Student of the Month

Congratulations to Skyla Herman! She was our student of month (November) for her ongoing congeniality and veracity displayed at the school. Skyla is involved with all school activities and is observed helping others. She is a great influence to the younger students. Skyla is assisting each morning with the posting and taking down of the school's flag. Congratulations, and keep up the good work.

School Awarded APS/Phoenix Suns STEM Grant

Bouse Elementary School has been selected as a 2017 Phoenix Suns/APS STEM Mini-Grant recipient. The STEM project was approved for $2,500. The review committee was impressed by the level of passion our staff showed in our application and our work to further develop our students’ interest in STEM. We are proud not just of this recognition, but also the outstanding support these organizations have on our youth and community.

4H Returns to Bouse

On November 15, students from the school, several faculty members, and parents committed to revitalizing the 4H program here in Bouse. University of Arizona representatives from Parker took registration forms. The club is separate from the school but will have our support. The initial focus of the club will be to integrate cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, outdoor discovery, and a (horseless) horse program. We even have one student raising a swine project! Projects will eventually go to the La Paz County Fair held in the spring. All members are already learning to use parliamentary procedures. Newly elected officers include:  Anna Dautel, President; Angela Smith, Vice President; Bryan Smith, Treasurer; Courtney Marchbanks, Secretary; Zevren Schwegel, Reporter; Nick Dautel, Sgt at Arms and Ellie Jagroop, Organizational Lead.

Veterans Day Luncheon

Bouse Elementary students and staff hosted a Veterans Day luncheon on November 9, 2017. This event brought over forty-five veterans and spouses to the school. The veterans were acknowledged for their service and dedication with slide show presentations prepared by the students. Along with the presentation, the attendees were provided with an outstanding meal prepared by the school. As a give back to the students representatives from VFW Post #2357 educated the youth on proper flag folding and what each fold represents. Understanding aspects to this support the history of the flag and those that put their lives on the line to ensure democracy for the next generation.

Ensuring Proper Etiquette Of Displaying The Flag

Bouse Elementary School student council took efforts to ensure the flag flying on “B” mountain was properly displayed. When flags are continuously on display they need to have a light shining on them into the night hours. Spearheaded by student council co-sponsors Tracey Tribbey and Jennifer Cameron, the school’s executive council affixed a solar light onto the “B” mountain flagpole. This required the team to bring the flagpole down from the mountain and then to return it to the top of the mountain. This was done in preparation for Veterans Day on November 11, 2017.

Phoenix Mobile Zoo Visits Bouse Elementary School

The Phoenix mobile zoo made a visit to Bouse Elementary School on November 6. This was an opportunity for zoo representatives to both educate and provide our students an opportunity to see and handle firsthand the different creatures of the desert. Here the kindergarten students are getting up close with a garden snake.
