Mrs. Weimer’s 1st and 2nd Grade Class

NEWS for the February 2012

2012 started off with a bang! We participated in the school wide spelling bee and Elly made it the farthest in the competition. Way to go Elly! We also entered an essay contest where the children wrote about water safety or healthy lifestyle choices. Our artistic sides were tapped as the children worked on artwork to be displayed at the Desert Brushes Exhibit on February 3 and 4th.

We all enjoyed learning more about music when The New Christy Minstrels came to perform. The class read aloud this month was The Indian in the Cupboard , a fantasy book about a plastic Indian that is brought to life through a magical cupboard. This book was very popular!

We continue to plug away at our Accelerated Math objectives and Victoria was the first student to complete all of her grade level objectives and so she has bumped up to third grade now. Awesome job Victoria! We took our STAR Reading and STAR Math tests and everyone has shown growth in both areas.

We are off to a great start in 2012!
